Ranj-o-fikar ka aalam hai, tanhaai kaa Safar hai,
Mausame-Ghame-hijraaN me hairaaN ek Shajar hai.

Tum they to jaise NadiyoN ki sargam sunaai deti,
Kaisa ye ab sukuut goyaa barpaa huaa Qahar hai.

Hai hosh kise begaano ka, baat to apno pe thahri,
Bheed me rah ke tanhaa hooN kaisa ye Shahar hai.

Tab ZubaaN se phool jhaDte,ab hain khamosh baithe,
Qaid-e-dahan me rakkhaa Muddat se koi Guhar hai.

Mahroome-Muhabbat ho gaye hain jab se kya kaheN,
Zeest ki tamannaaoN me Andhiyaari har Sahar hai.

Kis chehre ko talaashte ho 'Shaad' logoN me aksar,
Wo shakhs jaa chukaa, kyaa tumko ye khabar hai.??
